Collecting & displaying reviews

Collect post-purchase reviews via email, moderate them, and display photo UGC on your product pages.

Collecting & displaying reviews

The Reviews module helps you automatically ask customers for feedback after a purchase, approve or reject submissions in one place, and show star ratings and customer photos directly on your product pages.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Marketing > Reviews > Settings to enable the module and configure your post-purchase email. Set the delay — the number of days after order fulfilment that the review request email is sent.
  2. Save your settings. Retailos will automatically send review request emails to customers once their delay period has passed.
  3. When reviews come in, go to Marketing > Reviews > Moderation Queue. Each submission shows the star rating, written review, and any photos the customer uploaded. Approve or reject each review individually.
  4. Approved reviews — including customer photos — go live on your storefront automatically via the product page widget. No manual publishing step is needed.

How it works

  • Request emails are triggered by fulfilment, not by payment or dispatch. Make sure your orders are being marked as fulfilled so the timer starts correctly.
  • Moderation queue holds every new submission until you act on it. Nothing appears on your storefront without your approval.
  • Photo UGC is displayed through the storefront widget on the relevant product page. Only photos attached to approved reviews are shown.

Tips

  • Set your email delay to match your typical delivery window. If most orders arrive within 5–7 days, a delay of 7–10 days gives customers time to actually use the product before you ask.
  • Check your moderation queue regularly — unanswered submissions don't go live, so a backlog means missed social proof on your product pages.
  • Reviews are tied to specific products. A review submitted for one product will only appear on that product's page, not across your catalogue.
  • Retailos syncs product data with Shopify. If a product is updated or removed in Shopify, confirm it still exists in your Retailos catalogue before expecting its reviews widget to display correctly.

Troubleshooting

Customers aren't receiving review request emails. Check that the relevant orders have a fulfilled status in Retailos. The delay timer only starts at fulfilment. Also confirm the email delay setting is saved under Marketing > Reviews > Settings.

A submitted review isn't appearing on the product page. All reviews require manual approval. Go to Marketing > Reviews > Moderation Queue and check whether the review is waiting for action.

Customer photos aren't showing on the product page. Photos only display if they were part of an approved review. Re-open the review in the moderation queue to confirm it was approved with the photo attached.
