Email & SMS marketing

Set up email & SMS campaigns, automated flows, and segment targeting to reach the right customers at the right time.

Email & SMS marketing in Retailos lets you send one-off campaigns and automated triggered sequences to the right customer segments — all from a single place, without needing a separate marketing tool.

How to set it up

  1. Go to /app/marketing to access your marketing dashboard. Here you'll find two main areas: Campaigns for one-off sends and Flows for automated sequences.
  1. Create a campaign by selecting Campaigns and starting a new send. Choose your audience using segment targeting rules based on customer spend, recency, or tags. Schedule it immediately or pick a future date and time using the built-in scheduler.
  1. Set up a flow by selecting Flows. Retailos includes ready-to-use triggered sequences you can activate:
  • Welcome — sends when a new customer is added
  • Win-back — targets customers who haven't purchased in a while
  • Abandoned cart — reaches customers who left without completing a purchase
  • Price drop — alerts customers when a product they've shown interest in drops in price
  • Back-in-stock — notifies customers when an out-of-stock item is available again

Configure the trigger conditions and audience rules for each flow, then switch it on.

  1. Build your segments using the targeting rules inside the campaign or flow builder. You can filter customers by total spend, purchase recency, or custom tags you've applied to contacts.
  1. Connect your own SMTP sender by going to your workspace settings. Add your SMTP credentials to send email from your own domain. If you haven't set this up, Retailos falls back to the platform's default sender automatically.
  1. Track performance from /app/marketing. Open rates and click rates are recorded for each campaign and flow so you can see what's working.

Good to know

  • Flows run automatically once activated — you don't need to manually trigger them each time a condition is met.
  • Segment rules are evaluated at send time, so customers who qualify after you set up a campaign will be included as long as they match the rules when the message goes out.
  • The scheduler lets you time campaigns for any future date and hour, which is useful for planned sales or festive promotions.
  • Each workspace has its own SMTP configuration, so if you manage multiple brands or stores, you can send from a different domain per workspace.

Troubleshooting

  • Emails are sending from an unfamiliar address. This means your workspace SMTP hasn't been configured yet. Go to workspace settings and add your SMTP credentials to send from your own domain.
  • A flow isn't sending. Check that the flow is toggled on and that the trigger conditions match your current customer data. A win-back flow, for example, won't send if no customers meet the recency threshold you've set.
  • Open or click data isn't showing. Tracking is recorded per campaign and flow, but some email clients block tracking pixels by default. The numbers you see reflect confirmed opens and clicks, so actual engagement may be slightly higher.
