Audit log

View a tamper-evident log of every action in Retailos, with user, timestamp, IP, and before/after data.

The audit log gives you a complete, tamper-evident record of every action taken in your Retailos account — so you always know who changed what, and when.

How it works

Every time a user performs an action in Retailos, the system automatically captures:

  • Who did it — the user's name and account
  • When it happened — date and timestamp
  • Where they were — the IP address of the session
  • What changed — the before and after values of the record

No setup is needed. Recording starts automatically and cannot be turned off.

How to find and filter records

  1. Go to /app/audit in your Retailos account.
  2. Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow down the log by module (for example, Orders or Inventory), user, or date range.
  3. Click any log entry to expand it and view the full before/after payload — the exact values before the change and the exact values after.

Good to know

  • Tamper-evident — log entries cannot be edited or deleted by anyone, including admin users. This makes the log reliable for compliance purposes.
  • Staff accountability — if a price, stock level, or order is changed unexpectedly, you can trace it back to the exact user and session within seconds.
  • Compliance-ready — the log captures the detail level typically required for internal audits or regulatory checks, including IP addresses for each action.
  • Shopify sync actions — changes that flow in from your Shopify store via the two-way sync are also recorded in the log, so you have a unified view of all data changes regardless of origin.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't find a specific change? Make sure your date range filter covers the period you're looking for. The default view may not show older entries until you adjust the date filter.
  • Seeing actions you don't recognise? Check the IP address on the entry. An unfamiliar IP alongside a known user account may indicate a login from an unexpected location — a useful signal to review account access.
  • Entry shows a change but the current record looks different? A later action may have reversed or overwritten the first change. Filter by the same module and record to see the full sequence of edits.
