Affiliates & referrals
Set up affiliate partners, issue unique links and codes, track commissions on orders, and manage payouts.
The Affiliates & Referrals module lets you recruit partners, give each one a unique link or code, and automatically track the commission they earn on every order they bring in — all from one place.
How to set it up
- Go to
Marketing > Affiliates & Referrals. - Set up your affiliate programme by defining commission rules — for example, a flat amount or percentage applied to attributed orders.
- Invite partners to sign up, or share the partner signup link so they can register themselves.
- Once a partner joins, Retailos automatically generates a unique referral link and code for them.
- Partners share their link or code with their audience. When a customer places an order using that link or code, the order is attributed to that partner.
- View attributed orders and the commission earned against each partner under the commission tracking section.
- When it is time to pay out, use the payout ledger to see the balance owed to each affiliate and record payments made.
How it works
- Partner signup — affiliates register through a signup flow. Once approved, they appear in your affiliate list.
- Unique links and codes — every affiliate gets their own link and discount/referral code. Orders are attributed to the affiliate whose link or code the customer used at checkout.
- Commission tracking — each attributed order automatically adds the calculated commission to that affiliate's running balance in the ledger.
- Payout ledger — the ledger shows total commissions earned, any payouts you have already recorded, and the current amount outstanding. You update it manually when you make a payment.
Good to know
- Commission is tracked on attributed orders only — if a customer does not use the affiliate's link or code, the order will not be counted toward that affiliate.
- The payout ledger is a record-keeping tool. Actual fund transfers happen outside Retailos through your preferred payment method.
- If you run promotions alongside your affiliate programme, make sure your commission rules are set clearly upfront to avoid confusion during payout.
- Retailos syncs order data with Shopify only. If you sell on other channels, orders from those channels will not appear in affiliate attribution automatically.
Troubleshooting
- An order is not showing as attributed — confirm the customer used the affiliate's exact link or code at checkout. Orders placed without the code or through a different channel will not be attributed.
- Commission amount looks incorrect — check the commission rules you configured in
Marketing > Affiliates & Referrals. A recent rule change will apply to new orders, not retroactively to past ones. - Affiliate says their signup is not going through — make sure you have activated the programme and that the signup link you shared is current. Ask the affiliate to check their spam folder if they are expecting a confirmation email.
